Only Kennel Clubs in Good standing with the American Kennel Club can host AKC sponsored events. THE MCKC is one of those authorized clubs. We sponsor at least one Dog Show every year, and will sponsor additional events as our membership Grows
The requirements for being the MCKC comes down to really one basic rule. Someone who is a good person who loves dogs and respects the role of the preservation breeders.
The MCKC is not a BREED club. We accept owners of all breeds. If AKC accepts your dog, then so do we!
The club hosts a monthly meeting and all are welcome to join to find out more about what we do! You can also find us on FB!
One of the most commonly asked questions, is do I have to have a show dog to join. NO! The MCKC has members that will help you with all kinds of AKC activities including Field Trials, Obedience, Fast CAT
Well, this if just an old fashioned Beauty Pageant. Well if Beauty Pageants gave the judges a list of exactly what the perfect example looks like!
Each breed has an AKC Official Breed Standard. These standards are created based on input from the NATIONAL breed specific organizations.
Everyone loves a dog that is well behaved and minds their owner. This is a fun way to get that from your dog!
The MCKC have several members who can help you get started with these events and we even have official Canine Good Citizen® (CGC) inspectors.
Many of the Obedience events are held in conjunction with an AKC Conformation Competition.
This is a really impressive event! Owners compete with all types of breeds including mixed breeds at all different levels of obedience. On Lead, Off Lead.
It is a "type" of obedience competition, but is not the same as the official Obedience Competitions you may have seen in the past.

If your dog fast, smart, and loves to make you happy! This is the event for you! I believe we have all seen different forms of this competition.
These events are not typically held at an AKC Event, but you can find events near you using the AKC Event Search.
If you have even been to the zoom to watch the Cheetah runs??? Yep, that is Lure Coursing. An object on a string is pulled and the dogs run their little hearts out to try to catch it. This is especially popular with the sight hound crowd.
These events are not typically held at an AKC Event , but you can again find events near you using the AKC Event Search.
No this is not where you let your dog loose in a room full of CATS! CAT stands for Coursing Ability Test. Which is a fancy way of testing HOW FAST IS YOUR DOG! Fast Cat is similar to Lure Coursing, but the dogs run in just one straight line.
These events are sometimes held at an AKC Event if the venue has room outside, but you can again find events near you using the AKC Event Search.
Follow us on FB for events open to potential members!
